THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS

The LITTLE BLACK DRESS is without doubt a ‘Must have’ piece for any woman’s wardrobe. I also think it’s a woman’s prerogative to have more then one hanging in her wardrobe at any one time. Well thats my excuse anyway. So with the party season fast approaching I thought I’d put together a few of my favourites from the hight street and a few little luxury ones for good measure. I like simple, loose fitting dresses. Something chic but comfortable. If I’m going out for dinner I like to be able to relax and enjoy my food without worrying if my belly is popping out at any given chance. I love dressing mine up with heels and fabulous jewellery. I’m definitely feeling the chunky pearl necklaces for the party season. Possibly with matching cuff for a real vintage feel. I’m also in love with anything that has lace.. always been my downfall. The embellished dresses around right now are beautiful too. It’s just so hard to choose sometimes. I kinda like mini when I’m out dancing but nothing too short and I never go to the floor unless it’s a ball. So what will you wear this party season……?

A little mix of day & night pictures from my evening out at the cosmo blog awards. I snapped a few night time pictures which ended up capturing the colours and fabrics of the outfit better then the daytime shots. The Dolce & Gabbana dress is silky and glamorous and teaming it with the faux fur coat gives it a vintage hollywood feel. Finished the look with deep burgundy glossy nails and neat clutch. Glamorous detailing with high drama pieces of lace, satin, leather and fur.It was a lovely evening of vodka cocktails and champagne. Unfortunately I didn’t win an award this time, but I was more then thrilled to get shortlisted. They had 43,000 blog entries across the board. So to get to the last 10 in my category was a real achievement. Thanks again for all your lovely comments and for voting for me. Have a wonderful weekend.

Love Dawn xxx

Winters here and it came in a day…BOO!!! My worst fears met. I knew it had to come, but so soon?? really… another 8 months of cold. I don’t think I’m going to mange it too well. A move abroad is looking very appealing. I went winter clothes shopping yesterday. I was trying on a few cardigans and jumpers last night and I wasn’t excited by the prospect of wrapping up in them one bit. Dressing for winter makes me feel sad. I know I’m going to be moaning about being cold all the time. Annoying for me and everyone around me. Not painting a pretty picture of myself am I.
So many people I’ve met lately tell me how much they enjoy the winter. There’s nothing I hate more then being wrapped up inside on dark nights with a growing waist from all the comfort eating. I’m thinking of joining a gym or taking up yoga. Anything that helps you through,Is there something I should be doing ? What’s new out there?? recommendations welcomed..nothing too heavy thou!! Spinning head and sickness doesn’t appeal to me any more. I could just continue to look at dreamy holidays abroad online instead….I wrapped up today in high-low knit and slick coated skinny jeans.Anything goes with these pants-sweater,jackets or simple shirts.I haven’t quite given up on high sandals just yet. I couldn’t resist wearing them with this outfit. I just like the look.

I was wearing-
H&M Jumper (something similar here & here)
J brand Jeans
River island sandals
Celine Handbag

Dainty, delicate and femenine. Loved dressing up in this dreamy tulle skirt by Alice + Olivia, saint laurent neck tie and soft pink sweater. Felt like something from a fairytale for my first day at this years London fashion week. Completely different to my usual attire. Kinda like a fairy princess.In-fact one cab driver insisted he was taking me to the ball. I actually think I’ll be indulging in such looks a lot more.Had a fantastic day. Watched lots of shows, missed a few too because of road closures and chatting too much. It was lovely thou. I got to take my mum into a few shows and she loved it.In-fact she took all my pics. Think she did a pretty good job.The weather held up thankfully. But had my biker leather to keep me warm. Such a great buy from back in the summer. I like the heavy leather on soft romantic skirts and accessories. I put my hair in a plait to try and keep it neat but it slowly fell out throughout the day. I like it that way thou-I’m not one to have a set hairstyle.
I got lots of pics and videos on my instagram here from my day. I will also include a few on my next post. I’m off to the Matthew Williamson show today. I couldn’t believe it when I won a pair of tickets to attend. A complete dream come true for me. I was so thrilled that when I called friends and family they thought I’d won the lottery … well the London fashion week lottery anyway.

I was wearing
Alice + Olivia Justina tulle Skirt (shop it here)
Zara sweater
Saint Laurent neck tie (in peach here & black here)

Popped over to my friend’s last night who was previewing her beautiful A/W hat collection. Robyn Coles has had great success of late with her beautiful head pieces being worn by the royal family and such. Can’t get much better then that. Also known for her controversial naked catwalk at London fashion week. Models wore nothing but her head pieces. Naughty, but brilliant. I couldn’t resist trying on this gorgeous hat. Think it went lovely with my outfit.I’ve always been a fan of hats. I’ve bought many over the years but I never make full use and wear them as I should.
These pictures were taken within an old arcade. We have many in Cardiff that surround the city. Lots of the old features remain and play host to interesting shops. It’s always great to support local businesses. I think it’s important to keep the quirky one off shops that offer something different to the high street. I guess I come into that category now with the opening of my new boutique. Its not that your in competition with the high street giants, your just trying to provide something different. A different shopping experience…
This outfit is from a beautiful range I’m currently stocking in my boutique. Virgine Casataway. Similar to that of Isabel Marant. I’ve always been a huge Isabel fan so this collection was never going to be hard to like. The soft sparkle in the sweater looks fab against the skin. I’ve combined it with this printed skirt for a simple evening look. The best part for me, are these  See by Chloe boots… awww it was love at first sight. And thanks to the amazing service at my-wardrobe they landed within 24 hours of setting my sights on them. Love  how they fold over onto the heel. Leaving a slouchy feel to the look. Too cool…

I was wearing
Virgine Castaway Skirt (something cute here)
Virginie Castaway Sweater
See by Chloe boots (in burgundy here & suede here)
Celine Bag.
