I#ve always been crazy about lace. When it comes pretty and delicate I’m even happier. And when I can pair it with denims ten I’m in heaven. Dressed it down here with a long line cardigan but it’s fabulous with skirts and trousers too. Check out my instagram for more pics of how I styled it on my night out last week. I’m slowly getting ready for the festive season. I can’t believe it’s almost upon us. It only feels lie summer ended. Are you getting ready… planning outfits for parties and celebrations is so exciting. I’m loving all the gorgeous velvets, lace and sequins
. I’ve listed a few of my favourite things on my wish list below.
I’m so happy that velvet is in abundance this year. From jackets to bags and shoes..the crush on velvet is in full flow. I love the richness it brings to an outfit. It has always been a fave of mine. It can look extravagant and expensive. It’s beautiful in pretty much every colour too. Striking and luxurious comes to mind whenI see velvet. I love the tops, the ballet pumps, heels and pants in this lushus texture. I can’t say I’m overly pleased at the fact it’s Autumn but if I get to indulge in these gorgeous things then I can’t complain too much…. well no just yet!! But wait till it’s freezing cold and raining everyday then you might here me moan pretty much constantly … ha ha
Statement dressing. Special pieces that last forever. I’m doing it this year with this gorgeous trophy jacket. Out and about in London so thought I’d team it up with a pair of suede heels and torn up jeans.
These kind of jackets are great for day-to-night dressing. Smart or casual as I’ve done here. It’s a great staple piece. It’s a great time to be investing in this type of thing. Sales and massive reductions mean you can get your hands on some pretty amazing stuff but for a snippet of the price. I love the sales. And there are plenty of them this year. I find it easier online to shop them. I went in store in London yesterday and it was totally exhausting and I couldn’t find what I was looking for. There are pro’s and cons to both. The downside to online is not being able to try the things on before you buy… the dreaded waiting for the refund but it’s calm and relaxing and fun browsing the fashion pages. Then there’s the joy of trying things on there and then but with the drama of picking through the rails. I’ve had the best success this year online. Have you found anything nice yet? I’d definitely go for a trophy jacket, shoes or a handbag as a rule especially when I’ve been saving for something. Happy shopping guys. (I’ve listed a few of my favourite sales belw)
The shirt dress. A chic way to dress morning, noon or night. Left loose or belted. It’s a classic piece to add to your summer wardrobe.I guess winter too-if you want a transitional piece probably best to go with a darker colour.
Wearing Dress, Here Sandals, Banana Republic Sunglasses, Celine Handbag, Jimmy Choo Belt, H&M
I love this soft cream silk for summer days. Simplicity is best. Left to flare open in the breeze. I love these high splits in maxi dresses. It’s a nice effect to show of shoes and tanned legs. I guess this piece could also be worn on the beach… ahhh dreamy beach days. Slip it over a bikini and head for the beach bar. I’ve worn mine here a little Grecian. Gold braid belt and strap sandals.
Don’t you just love summer. Warm days that just feel so easy. Long lazy nights sat with a warm breeze and a cold drink. There’s definitely been a feel of summer these last few days. Dressing for summer can sometimes feel daunting. Having to unveil skin that hasn’t seen daylight for months isn’t the nicest feeling. It can sometimes feel awkward. Tops of legs and arms or the belly. Wearing cut out tops and shorts can feel alien to start, but it only takes a few days and everything feels natural again.
Preparing skin for summer sun can be an effort. But if you keep on top of it, you don’t need to be constantly worrying about it’s appearance. A good exfoliator is the key and I also like to use a coco butter to moisturise my skin as it’s longer lasting and really helpful at hydrating my skin. I’ve recently used the Charlotte Tilbury body balm and magic face cream. I have to say the results are amazing. My skin was instantly radiant with minimum effort. I always like to tan my skin with a little help from my favourite James reed mousse. Make sure skin is treated before applying-especially if its for a special occasion. I never exfoliate the same day as I tan. I always worry about damaging the skin then adding something to it that can aggravate it. So I allow at least 12 hours before I apply the tan. I always moisturise my ankles and hands after the tan to try and even it out. Bony areas are always a pain to get right. Big point to watch out for is washing hands after tanning. Don’t do it…well not for at last 30 minutes anyway. Gentle exfoliators are the best for the face, nothing too rough remember delicate areas need some TLC. Keep lips soft in the heat with a handbag size lip balm and I always think a eye serum is useful to use throughout the day to keep looking fresh and radiant. Happy pampering. xx Dawn
