Well it’s not Paris that’s for sure. Where I should of been watching couture shows and fluttering around Parisian cafes. I’m sat here at home with a broken heart (over dramatised of course) but honestly I’m still in shock over not being able to get to Paris. It seems I’m jinxed when it comes to travelling or attending occasions! My flight was cancelled due to adverse weather!! If you watch my instastories you would of seen the thick fog that shrouded the airport and grounded flights. Such a shame to miss a wonderful opportunity. Hopefully get to make up for it and head over for fashion week. Still it’s left me feeling pretty glum.
And now instead of sitting in Paris I’m sat here in Cardiff in the sweet cafe that resembles something a little Parisian! I’ve wrapped up in this overly long cardigan which is so nice as it wraps around and keeps legs warm when wearing skirts. It’s a good transitional piece for spring and something I will wear all year round. I also love wearing something long over something short. Have a great week Dawn xx
Happy New Year !! How’s your first week been..? I’ve found it really hard to get back into life after Christmas. It was such a lovely time. But it’s back to January and to save me from the blues I’ve been looking at a few new arrivals. Couldn’t resist the satin look. I bought it and wore it within 24 hours, that’s always a good sign. Nothing worse then buying something and it just sitting in your wardrobe for weeks/ months untouched.
I adore the vintage feel with its lace finishes and gorgeous gold colour. I put it on and felt okay about January .. even if it was just for a day. I wore it with these velvet rose detailed mules. Which I thought suited the look. These are one of my favourite additions from the sales. If you follow me over on Instagram you’ll know I was lusting after these for ages. I like the robe and slipper look I’ve achieved here. Something a little different and I think it’s a nice way to get ready for Spring Forever the hopeful … Ha ha
Dress, Wallis (New collection) Shoes, Kurt Geiger Handbag, Valentino Jacket, Givenchy
Earrings, Saint Laurent
So .. how was your Christmas? Hope you all had a wonderful day. I can’t believe it’s been already and it’s now boxing day. I do love the days after Christmas. Everyone is chilled out and there’s still lots of lovely food around and a happy atmosphere. I also love looking forward to the New Year. And the fact we will soon be in coming into Spring. I’ve really enjoyed winter this year. Helped by the beautiful clothing I’m sure. Christmas was fun and wearing lovely dresses and everything sparkly is always a treat. I do love the New Year. The best thing about it for me are all the new arrivals landing for the coming season. The sales are great but there’s nothing nicer then seeing all the pretty Spring/Summer clothing arriving. I’ve managed to get my hands on this gorgeous lace dress from the new season collection at Wallis. It’s the perfect dress to see me into the new year. I’ll be partying in it new Years eve and then adding it as my staple dress for the coming months. I’ve teamed it here with sandals ready to party but I love it with tights and boots too. I think I’ll layer it with a blouse as well. All the possibilities from one dress. I’ve always been a huge fan of lace as you probably already know. It’s one of my favourite trends. I pretty much team lace with anything. It’s a definite wardrobe essential for me.
Have you made any new years resolutions yet..? I usually go with the keeping fit one and the eating healthier one. But I’m little naughty at sticky to them.I find these ones the hardest to stick to. Maybe I should go with the buy more dresses option. I’ll do very well at that!!

I love finding new places to eat and shop – places I feel comfortable in, or that offer great, individual, unique products or services. There are so many great options, near every village, town and city that we sometimes overlook them, either because we don’t know they exist, or they’re located slightly off the beaten track.
They often offer unique signature products or services, providing that special something, which keeps me going back. It’s nice to walk into a salon where they know your name and make you feel at home, or a restaurant where they know the meal you love, or even where you like to sit. All these things can really give you a sense of belonging to your city/town/village. I think it’s so important to support small businesses. It’s great that we are given choices because of these people and the services they want to provide for us.
We’re coming up to Small Business Saturday this week, a day when people across the country are encouraged to get out support their local small business. That’s why I’m working with American Express – founder and ongoing supporter of the initiative – to bring you a few of my favourite independent businesses in Cardiff.
Best friend’s dog grooming
Established for nearly eight years, and run by two highly trained groomers, you and your dog will always get a warm welcome here. They offer animal holistic therapy, which great choice if you have a particularly nervous dog. It’s such a great way of keeping your dog looking its best and it’s a lovely experience for them too.
Chef Stephen Gomes is renowned for his pioneering take on traditional Indian recipes, experimenting with food science in his dishes. A love of liquid nitrogen alone ensures that diners can expect vapours and clouds of spices. The Chicken Bang Bang is a Goan Xacutti recipe of 21 ingredients together with peri-peri devilled sauce and Trinidad scorpion or Naga chillies. Steak of the Art
The restaurant has an ever changing gallery of art combined with a menu that stands out from the herd, delivering a unique dining experience in an electric and artistic atmosphere. The locally sourced Welsh black fillet steak is one of my favourites. I love that the chef works closely with local butchers and breeders to offer me good food that supports local farmers.
Bunch of Grapes
The creative chefs at this restaurant make the most of local produce. Their meats are sourced from farms within a 30-mile radius, vegetables are either grown in their own kitchen garden or for them on a farm in nearby Abercynon, fish is line caught from sustainable sources off the coasts of Wales and Cornwall and bread is baked fresh every day. Don’t miss the signature Fish & Chips.
Wyndham Arcade has been home to small businesses since it opened in 1887 and Servini’s is proud to have been part of that legacy for over fifty years. They serve freshly cooked food, amazing coffee and offer a cosy, comfortable environment to enjoy it all in. Their Welsh cakes are the stuff of legends! Grab one, sit outside in the vintage arcade, and watch the world go by.
deAO toys is an established local company with a vast array of their own-brand toys. Their most popular items are their range of remote control cars; they even have a digger – a great idea for a gift. This shop is packed full of great products that provide hours of fun.
Bear Strength is a Cardiff based sportswear company that makes all of its clothing here in the UK. They go to great lengths to provide a personal shopping experience that stays with you. I love their hoodies – great for exercise or just wearing about town!
Building up a selection of places I enjoy visiting makes life easier and so much more fun. Supporting small businesses is important to me and means they get to keep giving us unique options and lovely life experiences.
