Don’t you just love summer. Warm days that just feel so easy. Long lazy nights sat with a warm breeze and a cold drink. There’s definitely been a feel of summer these last few days. Dressing for summer can sometimes feel daunting. Having to unveil skin that hasn’t seen daylight for months isn’t the nicest feeling. It can sometimes feel awkward. Tops of legs and arms or the belly. Wearing cut out tops and shorts can feel alien to start, but it only takes a few days and everything feels natural again.
Preparing skin for summer sun can be an effort. But if you keep on top of it, you don’t need to be constantly worrying about it’s appearance. A good exfoliator is the key and I also like to use a coco butter to moisturise my skin as it’s longer lasting and really helpful at hydrating my skin. I’ve recently used the Charlotte Tilbury body balm and magic face cream. I have to say the results are amazing. My skin was instantly radiant with minimum effort. I always like to tan my skin with a little help from my favourite James reed mousse. Make sure skin is treated before applying-especially if its for a special occasion. I never exfoliate the same day as I tan. I always worry about damaging the skin then adding something to it that can aggravate it. So I allow at least 12 hours before I apply the tan. I always moisturise my ankles and hands after the tan to try and even it out. Bony areas are always a pain to get right. Big point to watch out for is washing hands after tanning. Don’t do it…well not for at last 30 minutes anyway. Gentle exfoliators are the best for the face, nothing too rough remember delicate areas need some TLC. Keep lips soft in the heat with a handbag size lip balm and I always think a eye serum is useful to use throughout the day to keep looking fresh and radiant. Happy pampering. xx Dawn
We had such beautiful weather whilst in London. I took full advantage and snapped a few pictures of this gorgeous black lace dress. A little bit cheeky with it’s sheer nature but I’m totally into this style. I love the look. It’s such a great piece for summer. Non crease and light weight which means it’s the perfect packable dress.Low maintenance-high impact
Packing for summer hols can be such a headache. No one wants to be ironing constantly but in the same breathe you want to look amazing on days/ nights out. Finding this kind of summer essential can make life and holidaying so much easier. It would also fit well in hand luggage. So if your not checking in a heavy case and your only away for one or two nights then this ticks all the boxes. Are you off anywhere nice..?
I’ve been in London for the Banana Republic event that I was co hosting with three other bloggers at the Regents street store. It was such a lovely evening. And I got to showcase my favourite summer essentials. If you follow me over on instagram you’ll see my dress from the event. It’s dreamy, and if your looking for a dress for an occasion I’d definitely give it a try. I’ll also put a post up of my outfit and of the night.
I’ve so many beautiful looks to post up so I’d better get a move on. Have a super long bank holiday weekend. xx Dawn
Striped sweater, suede sandals and shorts.. it must be a day in London. Do love a slouchy sweater especially over a pair of short shorts. Nude sandals always work well for summer. I’ve missed wearing this kind of look and now that the weathers changing it’s nice to be able to go for a stroll in such attire. It also helps when the surrounds are as beautiful as they are here. Dreamy cafe stops and browsing in shops. What a perfect way to spend the day. Find out why I’ve been in London the weekend tomorrow over on my social channels. There’s a really exciting project I’m doing this week. I’d love you to be part of too… so keep your eyes peeled. xx Dawn
Lace X Print x Scallops X Studs. It’s all in the detail. My summer time dressing includes so many lovely details without realising it. Sometimes we don’t even stop to look at what we have put together. It’s not until you actually stop for a minute and analyse what your wearing or in my case when I sit down to write about it, that you actually see all the things you love about what your wearing. I obviously have a huge love of lace. It’s one of my favourites. I think I already told you that.Ha ha .
The studded sandals are also a fav of mine and my new love happens to be these scalloped shorts. Putting things together in a wearable way can seem daunting but you can’t go too wrong if you wear the things you love.
Timeless denim classics to help ease you into summer dressing. The trusted jean only cut off. Doubling up off course with match matchy jacket. It’s so hard to reveal the skin after months of being hidden away under layers ! I always add some help with a little brushing of fake tan ! I try not to go to over board. I think it’s just a nice to add a little for a sun kissed look. Skin can be dehydrated and tired after being cold and artificially kept warm with heaters etc. Moisturising is obviously the best way for skin to look it’s best. I like the rich coco butters as they tend to soak in and leave skin dewy for longer. It was great to feel the warmth of the sun and I even went got my bikini on the one day just to soak up the vitamin D. Sadly I’m looking out of my window as I’m writing this and it’s pouring down with rain. So the bikini has been put away. Hopefully not for too long this time !! Have a great week be sure to keep up to-date with everything over on my snapchat and Instagram ! Everything’s dressmeperfect xx Dawn
